Hello! My name is Jessica

Hello! My name is Jess (she/her), and I am a Master of Counselling student from City University. My clinical lens has been shaped by my experience over the past 11 years supporting diverse, high achieving youth in performance environments. I have over a decade of experience developing and delivering leadership programming for students and professionals across Canada, which has allowed me to work closely with issues that include perfectionism, self-worth, belonging, self-doubt, and performance anxiety. My own identity as an Asian-Canadian and second-generation immigrant has influenced my interest and approach to mental health. Specifically, I am drawn to the intersectionality between culture and mental health, where my practice involves exploring the struggles and pain that stem from intergenerational conflicts, loss of cultural identity, and narrow cultural narratives.

I also bring a storied background working in sport, including my 9 years of experience as a wrestling coach (for an elite team of youth and university wrestlers) and a consultant on gender equity initiatives in sport with Canadian Women in Sport.

In our sessions, you can expect a compassionate, empathetic and collaborative clinician who creates a safe space for you to grow and heal. I believe in fostering a strengths-based and culturally-aware approach that meets you where you are at, and draws upon your unique strengths. I am here to support clients in finding acceptance for all parts of their identity, and allowing each of these pieces to be seen and heard. Together in our work, we can uncover new insights that can lead to growth, resilience and well-being. I am deeply committed to building a safe, non-judgemental, and trusting therapy relationship that enables you to embrace your full self and feel empowered in the pursuit of your goals.

When I’m not seeing clients, I can often be found coaching wrestling, doing my own kickboxing work-out, watching live musicals, or using cooking as a creative outlet.
