Hi There! My name is Louise
I’m Louise (she/her); I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor at Strive Counselling. I have had extensive experience for over 10 years working in K-12 classrooms as a teacher, literacy specialist, and most recently, as a registered clinical counsellor. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults of diverse backgrounds in a variety of communities – including schools in South Korea, Nunavut, and most recently in the Surrey School District.
Pain and suffering are a part of life and sometimes our experiences are so overwhelming that we seem stuck. As a clinical counsellor, I support clients to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, tap into their strengths, and discover tools to navigate challenges and the changing seasons of our lives. In our sessions, it is my hope and privilege to cultivate a space for you to share your story, gain insight, heal, and bring about change in your mental health journey.
I am also especially passionate about working with couples in therapy, as I believe the quality of our lives greatly mirrors the quality of our relationships. Our relationships are living and evolving entities that we can sometimes take for granted and neglect. To quote the Gottmans, marriage / a long term relationship is committing to “a set of unsolvable problems”. So how can we better show up for conflict and repair in a relationship? As a trained couples’ therapist, I aim to help you realize your hopes and goals for your relationship through evidenced-based approaches and helpful tools.
In my personal moments of self-care, I find comfort and healing in time spent doing mundane and pleasurable activities with family and finding the next hidden gem to dine at!
