Hello! My name is Sherina
I’m Sherina (she/her); With almost 15 years of experience in the education field, spanning across the K-12 system, adult education, and assisting newcomers to Canada, I have developed a diverse and well-rounded background. Prior to my career in education, I had the incredible opportunity to work in the airline industry, allowing me to embark on numerous adventures and explore different corners of the world. Amongst the cherished memories I’ve collected, Bali stands out as one of the most captivating places I have ever visited.
As a counsellor, my approach is rooted in compassion and cultural awareness. I firmly believe in the power of understanding and embracing individual narratives. By adopting a culturally cognizant perspective, I strive to create a safe space for my clients to express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences freely. It is through the sharing of these stories that empathy is built, leading to a deeper understanding of oneself and others. Together, we can explore the unique challenges and triumphs that shape each individual’s journey.
Growing up in Canada as the daughter of first-generation immigrants from Fiji, I bring a unique cultural perspective to my work. As an Indo-Canadian of Fijian descent, I draw inspiration from my Eastern cultural roots and the guiding principle of Talanoa, commonly used in Fiji and throughout the South Pacific. Talanoa embodies an inclusive, participatory, and transparent dialogue to share stories, foster empathy, and make informed decisions for the greater good.
My professional journey has allowed me to cultivate a passion for counselling rooted in compassion, cultural understanding, and the power of storytelling. With an appreciation for diverse experiences and a commitment to fostering growth and healing, I am dedicated to supporting my clients in their quest for self-discovery, resilience, and overall well-being.
Beyond my professional life, you often find me at the gym, engaging in weightlifting and exercising to maintain a healthy body and mind. I also enjoy being outside in nature, splitting my time between the mainland and the island, and enjoying the serenity of the outdoors with my partner.
